Every September, Big Brothers Bigs Sisters of Family Services of NW PA recognizes the impact of its programming, mentorship, and matches during Big Brothers Big Sisters Month. 2024 marks the 120th anniversary of Big Brothers Big Sisters.
This September, Big Brothers Bigs Sisters of Family Services of NW PA is shifting perceptions of mentorship and redefining the little everyday moments that can make a big impact on the lives of young people—time already spent going to a movie, sharing a slice of pizza, and getting coffee.
"While we celebrate our wonderful mentors all year, September is an extra special opportunity to remind everyone just how important mentoring is in our community," said Heather Filson, Program Supervisor for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Family Services of NW PA. "With nearly 75 youth on our wait list, we are always looking for mentors."
For Big Brothers Big Sisters Month, Big Brothers Bigs Sisters of Family Services of NW PA invites the community to share their most pivotal mentorship moments, no matter how big or small, on all social media channels using the hashtag #BeBig and #BBBSMonth. This tapestry of stories will serve as a testament to the significant impact and universality of mentorship moments.
