POSITION SUMMARY:
The Drug and Alcohol Counselor in the Center for Counseling and Wellness at Family Services of NW PA functions in the role of a counselor by providing direct social services to clients at the agency's offices as assigned. Day and evenings hours are required.
JOB DUTIES:
- Performs methods of drug and alcohol counseling services to clients as assigned.
- Provides drug and alcohol assessment services and coordinates case plans with other community agencies.
- Advocates for client and/or stimulates client to act on his/her own.
- Participates in staff development activities, including individual and peer supervision.
- Maintains case records in a timely manner as required in agency policy.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Master's degree or above with a major in chemical dependency, psychology, counselinsocial work, nursing (with a speciality in human services) or another field which included a practicum in a health and human services agency, preferably the drug and alcohol setting is required.
- A bachelor's degree may be accepted if there is a 1-year clinical experience in a health and human service agency, preferably in the drug and alochol setting.
