POSITION SUMMARY:
The Drug and Alcohol Counselor Assistant in the Center for Counseling and Wellness at Family Services of NW PA functions in the role of a counselor assistant by providing direct social services to clients at the agency's offices as assigned. Day and evenings hours are required.
JOB DUTIES:
- Performs methods of drug and alcohol counseling services to clients as assigned.
- Provides drug and alcohol assessment services and coordinates case plans with other community agencies.
- Advocates for client and/or stimulates client to act on his/her own.
- Participates in staff development activities, including individual and peer supervision.
- Maintains case records in a timely manner as required in agency policy.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- A counselor that does not have the educational and experiential qualifications for the position of a Drug and Alcohol Counselor, with a Master's or Bachelor's degree in human service qualify as a Drug and Alcohol Counselor Assistant.
- This will serve as a transitioning role with the desire to become a Drug and Alcohol Counselor, by obtaining the necessary training and competency as outlined for a Drug and Alcohol Counselor job description.
